Hey, Erica-
I met up with your dad today (perhaps you heard that Sim died and today was the memorial service) and he gave me all (or a good deal) of your news. Sounds marvelous! I'd love to see you and catch up with you in person. Unfortunately I don't get into the city too often, but Bernie suggested that the two of you might come out here for a visit (and a meal?). I'm afraid my cooking skills don't match yours any more, but we can do something. It would be JUST GREAT!

What do you say? my phone number is the same -- 61-265-9335 -- and my email is aross@binome.com. What do you say?

The garden is great, and my dog is a better hostess than I am these days.

Thanks so much for listening! Sorry to hear about your lost hive, this is my first year, so I'm really hoping they make it through this winter. I will definately do at least one show on honey, just waiting until honey season is here. Stay tuned! Keep me posted how your hives do this summer, I'll be giving occasional bee reports, too.

Love your podcast "Why we cook." I listen to it in my garden and on my daily runs. I too keep bees. This is my second year. My last hive was lost to a severe winter in Nebraska.... This year my Carnolian Bees arein my Garden in Lincoln Neb. I love having them so close. In the morning, a cup of coffe and my 10 year dog Waldo, savor the bees as they and I wake up. In the afternoon, I watch them guard the hive. I also enjoy when they challenge Waldo as she sits sedately panting nearby on the patio. Ahh Joy!

A honey episode (if not yet done as I have not yet listened to all of your podcast as I am a new convert) would be fantastic. There is alot of history with honey.

Thanks again for your unique podcast.
Sincerely,
Karen Endacott

Hi, Erica…our family was sent an email about you because we are part of the Wides family from Englewood, NJ. We all currently live in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, and were curious about our connection with you. If you care to email back about your parents and/or grandparents, perhaps we can figure this out. I do believe that everyone with this last name is related. Our father was Robert Wides, son of Elizabeth and Samuel Wides. His sisters were Bea and Jeannette Wides (who never married and lived in Englewood and Tenafly). Another sister, Frances (Wides)Brotman lived in D.C., and sister Ida (Wides) Klasson was a very renown dietition in the Chicago area and one brother, Marvin Wides. All are now deceased. My brother is Richard Wides and my sister is Helen (Wides) Macuci. It’s wonderful to read about you and your successes in the cooking field. We’d love to learn more about you! Best of luck in your upcoming Television shows!

Chef Erica,

After listening to the most recent Why We Cook I wanted to let you know that Hawthorne Valley sells a bio-dynamic (organic and beyond!) cheese called Bianca that is very similar to farmer cheese. As you most likely know they are at the Union Square market on Weds. and Sat. I love Why We Cook!

Best,

Sarah

Just watched you on Chopped (a little behind in my DVR!). I thought that you should've won hands down. I'm excited to explore your website. I hope that you continue doing what you're doing because you seemed to be very experienced and talented. I propose a re-match!

I loved the episode with you on Chopped. I was hoping you would win. what do you recommend for busy moms who have kids who are picky about what they eat? How do I get them to try some new foods? Any advice would be helpful.

Hello Chef Erica-

I saw you last night on FoodTV's Chopped and was really disappointed you did not win. I thought you had that in the bag!! I also thought you might be interested in our shop here in New Orleans, Lucullus, which specializes in all things culinary. Just an idea I thought I would pass along. I hope to be able to share with you our mutual interest in cooking!!

Thank you,

Roberta Ramsdell
